From Trolls to Toy Story, Crayons to Care Bears, the toy box’s most beloved characters have come to life at the Queensland Children’s Hospital for its Dress Up Day.
This year’s theme, Out of the Toy Box, saw the hospital transform into a larger-than-life playroom, complete with a giant Rubik’s Cube, oversized alphabet blocks and favourite toys from across the decades. Staff swapped their scrubs for costumes as Barbies bustled about, teddy bears tended to patients, and favourite characters filled the halls.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation joined the fun with face painting, fairy floss, a cuddly petting zoo and special visits from characters like Poppy from Trolls along with Bluey and Bingo.
It was the biggest Dress Up Day to date, with more than 70 teams, work areas and departments taking part, all hoping to reign top of the toy box to win the prestigious Golden Bedpan.
The annual day is a highlight in the Children’s Health Queensland calendar, bringing smiles to children who visit expecting a normal appointment to find their treating team dressed up as different characters.
For staff at the hospital and at community sites, it’s a chance to team up, get creative and turn their areas into something special.
