Atticus was born at the Gold Coast University Hospital in July 2015. When his mum, Shannon, tried to feed him two days later he aspirated, which meant the milk went into his lungs. Atticus was transferred to Brisbane where he was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Laryngeal Cleft (an abnormal opening between the larynx and the oesophagus).
