Did you know the green tree frog has a unique ability to 'immunise' itself? That's why this lovable amphibian is an ideal symbol for the new Queensland Specialist Immunisation Service (QSIS) based at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.
Queensland children and young people with complex immunisation needs now have access to greater protection against life-threatening vaccine-preventable diseases, after the official launch of this new service today.

The new immunisation centre will begin operating from late-July, supporting the immunisation of children and families visiting the hospital. Our expert clinical team will also provide consultations and immunisations for children with complex health needs.

Traditional immunisation services at GPs and Child Health centres remain the main vaccine providers, while QSIS will offer specialist advice to families and practitioners across Queensland who need to immunise children with complex health problems due to a pre-existing condition.

Alexis, Erica and Tayla are pictured with the Green Tree Frog that features on the walls of the new centre as part of ‘distraction Imagery’ which has been shown to help reduce anxiety in children undergoing treatment.

Sometimes you just need a super cute baby pic!

This is 6 month old Iriana. She was one of the first to visit the new Queensland Specialist Immunisation Service launched at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital this morning.
