Children’s Health Queensland’s new Mipla Binna website makes it easier for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to learn about and plan for their child’s hearing loss journey. Families can:

  • Learn what hearing loss means for their child
  • Find out information that will help them to plan for their child’s health and wellbeing
  • Learn how to help their child get the best start in life
The name Mipla Binna is a combination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander words. Mipla –Torres Strait creole meaning us, we or ours, and Binna – Aboriginal word (from the North Queensland area) meaning ear.

Mipla Binna therefore translates as Our Ears.
