Children’s Health Queensland’s new Mipla Binna website makes it easier for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to learn about and plan for their child’s hearing loss journey. Families can:
- Learn what hearing loss means for their child
- Find out information that will help them to plan for their child’s health and wellbeing
- Learn how to help their child get the best start in life
The name Mipla Binna is a combination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander words. Mipla –Torres Strait creole meaning us, we or ours, and Binna – Aboriginal word (from the North Queensland area) meaning ear.
Mipla Binna therefore translates as Our Ears.
