Our values
Our values guide how we work and support us to achieve our goals.
Respect - We listen to others.
Integrity - We do the right thing.
Care - We look after each other and show kindness and concern for others.
Imagination - We dream big.
Putting people first
At Children’s Health Queensland, we prioritise people, partnerships, equity and innovation to deliver the best possible care for Queensland children and young people. We believe in the Planetree philosophy of care which champions kindness, caring and respect to ensure the needs of people – patients, families and staff - remain at the heart of every healthcare experience. In practice, this means we consider every child and young person as a unique individual to be cared for, not just a medical condition or injury to be treated. It also means we value patients and their families as true partners in the care we provide.
Planetree first recognised our commitment to person-centred care in January 2021, awarding us Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centred Care. Planetree renewed our Gold Certification status in May 2025, making us the only paediatric healthcare organisation in Australia and the world to hold this level of certification in person-centred care.

A Child Safe Organisation
We’re committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for every child and young person who accesses our services and facilities.
As a child safe organisation, we:
- Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
- Actively listen to and value their views
- Take steps to reduce the risk of harm and identify concerns early
- Respond appropriately to disclosures, allegations, or suspicions of harm.

Committed to sustainable healthcare
The health of our planet is inextricably tied to the health of humanity. At Children’s Health Queensland, we believe we have an obligation to make positive and lasting change today to ensure a healthier tomorrow for children and young people. We are committed to being an environmentally responsible organisation and reducing our environmental footprint through best practice healthcare and continuous improvement. Children’s Health Queensland has been a member of the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals network since 2017, joining more than 2,000 organisations in more than 80 countries who are using innovation, ingenuity and investment to transform the health sector and foster a healthy, sustainable future.
