Strategic goals

Children’s Health Queensland is dedicated to leading life-changing care for children and young people – for a healthier tomorrow. The new Children’s Health Queensland Strategic Plan 2016-2020 was approved by the Board in June 2016 after an extensive consultation process with staff, families, carers, volunteers and our partners – to help create a new vision and shared values. Our strategic goals are,

  • Child and family-centred care: We will place the child and family at the heart of all we do.
  • Partnerships: We will work collaboratively with partners to improve service coordination and integration, and optimise child and young person health outcomes across CHQ and statewide.
  • People –Working, learning and growing: We will create an inspirational workplace where people want to work and learn, where contributions are values and staff come to work with a purpose and leave with a sense of pride.
  • Performance: We will deliver sustainable, high value health services driven by continuous improvement, creativity and innovation.

Quality management policy statement

The quality of our services is fundamental to our vision of delivering life-changing care for children and young people – for a healthier tomorrow.

Quality healthcare is achieved by services where:

  • we actively engage and collaborate with children and young people, their families and our healthcare partners
  • we are all responsible for contributing to high quality care
  • we provide safe environments to optimise the health and wellbeing of children and young people, and staff
  • we support staff wellbeing and ongoing development
  • we identify and address risks and opportunities to achieve improvement.

Consumer and community engagement

In October 2016, we launched our Consumer and Community Engagement Strategy 2016-2020 which aims to place the child and family at the heart of all we do, working collaboratively with partners and the community to improve chid and youth health outcomes. Our objective is to build knowledge, confidence and lead innovation with our partners as we develop family-centred, community-focused approaches to service development and delivery.
