Workshop: Family Based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa

Family Based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa (FBT- AN), the leading evidenced-based treatment for children and adolescents with restrictive eating disorders internationally, is hosting a workshop to provide participants with the knowledge and skill to implement FBT- AN in the workplace. The workshop will explore medical monitoring information for the community context, and how to develop weight charts for treatment.

Ten sessions of small group supervision (one hour sessions) via video-conferencing over the period of twelve months is included in the registration fee for Queensland based Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) clinicians. (Evidence of employment with Queensland Health in CYMHS will be required)

This two-day workshop has been developed in collaboration with the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder (USA), and will be co-presented by the Children’s Health Queensland (CHQ), Child and Youth Mental Health Service, Eating Disorders Program.

Presenters

Kristen AndersonKristen Anderson is a faculty member and managing director for the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (USA). Ms Anderson is a co-founder and therapist with the Chicago Centre for Evidenced Based Treatment (CCEBT) specialising in child and adolescent eating disorders and related disorders. Ms Anderson is a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years experience in the field of eating disorders and has worked with Dr Daniel le Grange on a number of treatment studies for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa, and provided FBT in a number of treatment trials. Ms Anderson has a long-standing relationship with the CHQ CYMHS Eating Disorders Program and is excited to collaborate in the development and delivery of FBT training in Queensland.
Tania WithingtonDr Tania Withington is the program manager of the CHQ Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS), Eating Disorders Program. Dr Withington is an accredited clinician and supervisor in FBT-AN with the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (USA). Dr Withington has over 10 years experience in the provision of FBT-AN in the CYMHS context.
Dr Salvatore CataniaDr Salvatore Catania is the medical director of CHQ CYMHS Eating Disorders Program. Dr Catania is an accredited clinician and supervisor in FBT-AN with the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (USA). Dr Catania has over 10 years experience in the provision of FBT-AN in the CYMHS context.
Penny KnightPenny Knight is the clinical nurse consultant/team leader of CHQ CYMHS Eating Disorders Program. Ms Knight is an accredited clinician and supervisor in FBT-AN with the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (USA). Ms Knight has over 10 years experience in the provision of FBT-AN in the CYMHS context.
Julie AthertonJulie Atherton is an advanced social worker at CHQ CYMHS Eating Disorders Program. Ms Atherton is an accredited clinician and supervisor in FBT-AN with the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (USA). Ms Atherton has over 10 years experience in the provision of FBT-AN in the CYMHS context.
