Leanne has worked as a paediatric speech pathologist since 1991. Working in both health and education sectors, she has spent a lot of her professional life working in schools and childcare centres. Currently, Leanne works part time at Inala Child Development Service as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and support for children with complex developmental difficulties. This position involves working predominately with families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She has developed resources to support this population group and has contributed to an e-book published with the University of Queensland. Leanne has also collaborated with another speech pathologist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital to provide training for interpreters and therapists on how best to work together.
Leanne’s husband is from Milan and she would now define herself as bilingual after many years trying to master the Italian language! She has two boys, 13 and 11, who have been raised in a bilingual language environment.
