Information for health professionals
The Queensland Youth Cancer Service (QYCS) is for adolescents and young adults (AYA) aged between 15-25 years who have been diagnosed with cancer and treated in paediatric and adult hospitals across Queensland. The QYCS multidisciplinary team provides expert care to young people with cancer across Queensland. Young people with cancer have specific physical, social, educational and practical support needs which require the assistance of expertly trained professionals both during and after treatment. Our aim is to provide the best medical, nursing and psychosocial treatment and care available.
Throughout Queensland’s public and private hospitals we aim to build capacity and knowledge of adolescent and young adult cancer care.
At QYCS we understand that a cancer diagnosis is life changing and there’s more to your life than just cancer treatment. Our team are here to support you to meet your full potential and work with you both during and after cancer treatment. We provide a free service and available via phone, email or at the partner sites listed below. If you live or are being treated outside of these hospitals we can link up with you and/or your treatment team via telehealth facilities and provide expert input and support specific to caring for young people with cancer.
