Associate Professor Jason Acworth established Children’s Health Queensland’s Paediatric Emergency Research Unit (PERU) in 2009 and served as Director of Emergency at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the former Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane from 2010-2020. PERU forms part of Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative (PREDICT) research network aimed at improving emergency care for young people. Jason was a member of the group that established PREDICT and served as both the network’s inaugural vice chair (2004-2008) and national chair (2008-2009).
Jason is the current Director of Children’s Health Queensland’s STORK (Simulation Training Optimising Resuscitation for Kids) Statewide Simulation Service, and clinical lead of the hospital’s Rapid Response System Coordination Unit.
Jason is also National President of Advanced Paediatric Life Support Australia, paediatric representative on the Australian Resuscitation Council and current lead of its National Paediatric Life Support Sub-committee, and the Australian representative on the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) paediatric life support taskforce.
