Playground and gardens

The benefits of having gardens and playgrounds in a hospital go far beyond entertainment. They provide children, young people and their families with a chance to get outside and grab some natural light and fresh air.

The Queensland Children’s Hospital has several gardens to explore, as well as the Queensland Children’s Hospital playground.

Rooftop garden

Rooftop garden

The rooftop garden on Level 5 provides patients, families and visitors with a relaxing, outdoor space away from the clinical environment. With a small lawn and shaded seating, it’s an ideal place for children and families to relax, eat, play or just enjoy the river and city views.

How to get there

Level 5 is easily accessed from either the A Lifts or B Lifts. Once you arrive, simply head towards our Ronald McDonald Overnight Accommodation past 5A, where you will see a corridor on the right leading out to the rooftop garden.

Opening times

The rooftop garden is open 24/7.
