Entertainment precinct on 6

Play is such an important part of a child or young person’s healing process. It’s their first language and how they express their thoughts and emotions. It can help them understand and cope with their illness and treatment, and feel less anxious.
The Entertainment Precinct on 6 is somewhere your child or young person can go to smile, have fun and forget about being in hospital and their treatment for a while. It’s an opportunity for them to just be kids.
Discover Kidzone, the Starlight Express Room and Radio Lollipop, areas that offer free activities, entertainment and even supervised play so parents and carers can take a break.

How to get there
Finding the Entertainment Precinct on 6 is easy. Simply make your way to Level 6 from either the A Lifts or B Lifts. Once you arrive, a coloured feather trail will guide you to Kidzone, the Starlight Express Room or Radio Lollipop:
- Green feathers: Kidzone
- Purple feathers: Starlight Express Room
- Red feathers: Radio Lollipop
Creating the design
The Queensland Children’s Hospital partnered with experts from the QUT Design Lab to reimagine Level 6 as a dedicated space for fun and play.
Local Brisbane artist Kirsten Baade collaborated with the hospital’s own design team to develop a fun and engaging concept including murals, floor art and digital animation. The design continues the hospital’s colourful parrot and nature themes, and makes it easier for families to get around the precinct.
