9 November 2018

As of Friday 9 November 2018, the name of the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital has officially been changed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services Steven Miles announced on 21 September that the hospital would be renamed.

Since then, there have been a range of processes underway to legally effect the name change. Those processes are now complete.

With the name Queensland Children’s Hospital now in effect, work will begin on replacing significant signage.

Changes to other items such as computer systems, stationery and uniforms will be made using a phased approach over the next 12 to 18 months on an as-needs basis and within existing resources.

No funds will be redirected from clinical services to cover the cost of these changes.
It may take some time to apply the name change across the hospital, however this process will not impact the day-to-day operation of the hospital and the high-quality, safe and family-centred care Children’s Health Queensland provides to patients and families every day.
