Children’s Health Queensland, supported by the Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, is offering Queensland Health registered nurses working in a paediatric setting the opportunity to increase their knowledge and gain valuable experience through the following initiatives:

Exchange program

A range of options is available to help develop the skills of regional, rural and remote nurses, including a four-week placement at the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) in South Brisbane. Nursing staff based at the QCH can undertake a placement within a regional, rural or remote hospital and health service, or take part in an exchange of ‘like for like’ (across all levels of registered nursing) for a four-week period (as mutually agreed).

Early career rotation program

Nurses who work in a paediatric setting and have at least 12 months postgraduate experience (but less than three years) can take part in a four-week placement at the QCH. Early career nurses at QCH (less than three years’ experience) can apply for a placement in a regional, rural or remote setting.
