CHQ Imaging Informatics Solution

In July 2019, as a part of CHQ’s digital transformation, QCH commenced a project to move from the Enterprise Radiology Information System (QRIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (ePACS) to a locally managed Imaging Informatics Solution. This change, brought about an opportunity to improve the technology that supports the QCH Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Department (MINM), as well as look at ways to improve how all imaging is managed across other clinical areas within QCH and across CHQ.

What is our vision?

To harness the power of technology to create a single repository of clinical images for CHQ, including things such as medical imaging, clinical photography, speciality imaging taken outside MINM.

What is happening in December 2021?

  • In December 2021, QCH MINM will move all Radiology scheduling and Clinical Reporting to the new Imaging Informatics solution. This step forms an important backbone of CHQs vision for creating a single Multimedia Management solution for the health service.
  • Importantly, in December this will mean:
    • referring clinicians will continue to request medical imaging and view clinical reports in the ieMR
    • referring clinicians will start viewing patient images in the new QCH PACS Web Client and stop using the ePACS solution
    • all scheduling, protocolling and clinical reporting within MINM will be performed in the new system
