The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital will take its next step toward creating a digital healthcare service by converting patients to a fully integrated electronic record (ieMR) during April 2018.

This new technology, called ieMR Advanced, will allow your child’s medical history, medications, tests, scans and X-rays to be kept in a single electronic record.

In a digital hospital:

  • our staff use computers instead of paper charts to record your child’s treatment
  • information can be shared among your child’s care team in real-time
  • new computer equipment and machines at the bedside will help us care for your child
  • only people with ieMR access can see your child’s file and there are policies and procedures in place to ensure that only the treating team is accessing your child’s record.

This latest step in our digital journey will require staff to change how they manage patient information across most areas of the hospital. More than 2700 staff including nurses, doctors, pharmacists, allied health and some administrative staff has undergone intensive training to ensure the hospital can transition to the new system, safely and effectively.
